Portfolio management
Portfolio management answers what SAMT-BU is working on, how it is going, and what we prioritise. That is different from managing a single solution or pilot. The distinction comes from the SAFe and IT4IT frameworks, but we borrow only the simplest parts: a board with phases, a hypothesis per pilot and a link to the goals.
The tool here, the governance under Project governance
This track covers the tool: how the portfolio board, issue types and links are set up in GitHub. The governance itself, meaning what is in the portfolio, who owns what and how often the portfolio is reviewed, is a decision for the project management and belongs under Project governance → Tasks and follow-up.
The portfolio covers SAMT-BU. If the samt-x organisation gets more projects, a level can be added above, with SAMT-BU as one card.
Steps
| Step | Content | Issue |
|---|---|---|
| B1 Portfolio board | One board with one card per pilot, product and work area, with fields such as owner, phase and health. Done October 2026: SAMT-BU Portfolio. | solution-task-management#10 |
| B2 Links to tasks and goals | The cards linked down to the tasks, so that progress rolls up, and up to the goals. | solution-task-management#11 |
The phases on the portfolio board build on the shared status model in the track Shared setup.
